Brussels, Belgium

IMG_1153 #2-1000 Grand’ Place-Grote Markt. The main building in the center of the city.  People sit and hang out in front of it all day, eating ice cream and watching street performers.  I was asked, while standing in front of it admiring its grandeur, if I noticed that it wasn’t symmetrical.  Wow! I didn’t even notice that until it was pointed out!  The left side was a little wider than the right!  I was then told a story that the architect did not plan that.  It was a complete accident that that happened and when the building was finished and the architect realized that his masterpiece was lopsided, he climbed to the top and jumped to the middle of the public square because of his major mistake.

IMG_1088-1000Dali.  When I was there, there was a great expedition right in the center of the city showing off Salvador Dali’s works of art.  I’m not sure if it’s still there but I enjoyed it and you should ask around if you happen to be there.

Waffles.  Real Belgian Waffles – try one! Or two!

Night Life. Brussels is really fun at night – lots of bars and things to keep you entertained.

Chocolate. Belgium is known for its chocolate and its beer. You must try both!  Yum!!  My mother was afraid she would never see me again…

The Delirium Café. One of my favorite bars in the world!  Home of Delirium Tenmens beers, this bar holds the Guinness World Record for the most beers offered.  When I was there in 2010, the bar had 2010 beers.  They brought out a menu and it was bigger than a telephone book or dictionary.  Seriously!  I’m normally overwhelmed with a decent beer list because my beer choice is very important to me, but this was just insane!  To read the full post about The Delirium Café, CLICK HERE! Find out what I drank, see pictures, and discover where it is tucked away!

Parks. Take a stroll in one of the many nice parks around the city… or try the free exercise equipment that along the trails!
