If you work remotely and are interested in traveling to new locations for a few months at a time, this might be a great idea for you!
First of all, let me tell you a bit about myself (I’ll try my best for as few words as possible): I am a teacher and world traveler — both are equally important to me, like two halves to form one human. I’ve been trying to somehow balance my teaching life with my travel life, but being locked into a school schedule and traveling only when the rest of the world travels drives me bonkers. So, for the past decade, I’ve been teaching for a year or so, and then traveling for a year or so… Teaching a semester at a college, then traveling for a few months… eat, sleep, teach, repeat. It’s worked for a decade, but now I want to change it up again.
Right before Corona, I moved to Norway (and was planning to just try it for a year or so like I’ve done in many other places before, and then go traveling again)… But then a world pandemic struck. During Corona, it’s been tough – only teaching, no traveling… I was losing my mind without traveling, but started online teaching so I put 100% into that – and boy, let me tell you, I loved working from home! Now, I really don’t want to go back working in a school because I NEED a change in location and really want to continue my remote work. However, I can’t really travel like I used to (flying by the seat of my pants with no plans at all), because there are so many restrictions nowadays, that it’s really daunting to even think about.
So what do I do? Well, I don’t know how or why I thought of this, but out of no where, I came up with this brilliant idea (and I’m so excited to share)!
What if I somehow ban together with other like-minded professionals (who are able to work remotely) to form a little international family, who can then rotate locations?
Hear me out: Let’s say there’s a girl in Japan, another in Australia, another in Canada (and I’m in Norway), who all work remotely and have their own apartment… The four of us could perhaps rotate every 3 months so that we live in all 4 locations throughout the year. We wouldn’t need to worry about packing up and moving, signing new leases, hooking up new WiFi, and all the other nonsense that goes along with moving apartments. We also wouldn’t need to worry about visas and getting permanents jobs and getting government approval for work because we could just be in the country as a “tourist” for up to 3 months (most countries are 3 months, but some are different, we’ll work out the logistics later).
Here are some ideas/perks about this group:
★ We could keep our things at our “home base”
★ No hassle of apartment hunting or visas
★ We could all be on an international phone family plan (which is cheaper and then our phones will work in every country for one flat rate).
Ideal girls I hope to connect with:
★ Able to work remotely for at least one year
★ Has enough money to support herself (even without the remote work)
★ 30+ years old
★ Has an apartment in a major city, close to public transportation
★ Clean and tidy (since we’ll be sharing our homes)
Please let me know what you think about this idea! Let me know any questions, concerns, thoughts, etc. Let’s start a discussion in the comment below and I’ll continuously add new ideas to this post as they come up (this is a work in progress).
I’m really curious and want to make this happen, but I need your support. Share this link with any and all social media and any girl who you think might be interested =) <3
