West of Auckland is a beach with a large hill that, from the side, looks like a resting lion. I loved this beach. Climb up the lion’s back to get a better view of the whole beach or walk down the beach on the right-side of the lion and find interesting caves. But if you do venture to this beach, you must wander to the left-side of the lion… There, you’ll see starfish and other creatures in the pools left behind from the tide, huge and rough waves pushing furiously through cracks between hills, and [the best part] sea foam blowing all over the very end of the beach from the waves. Be careful and climb the rocks to see terrifying waves crashing right next to you. Wear a rain jacket because you’ll be sure to get wet!
